Revival of Kalari in India?

Although Kalari went through a revival in India in the 80s and early 90s, the trend as gone slack again. Although Northern Kalari (vadakan system) has been show on TV and is doing well. The Southern art seems to get little Attention. The art originally from Tamil Nadu is known as a tough fighting art. But many old masters are dying without a successor. Many are too poor to operate a school as well of a lack of interest from youngsters. What’s needed is a vested interest from the government.

Demonstration

A recent demonstration at East Ham Town on 24th 25th April, through the Malayam Association produced some interest in Kalari. The crowds were please to see their own martial art being performed on Stage, with included stick drills, locks form and much more.
